First introduced in 1932, the L-00 has remained the most well-known and popular small-body acoustic model in Gibson’s illustrious history. The L-00 Special is crafted by Gibson’s expert acoustic luthiers in Bozeman, Montana, and offers players a USA-built Gibson acoustic guitar at a very accessible price. The L-00 Special is constructed using genuine, solid mahogany for the back and sides and has a solid Sitka spruce top with the traditional scalloped X-bracing for a balanced tone with excellent dynamic range for a small-bodied acoustic. Both the top and back feature single-ply binding around the perimeter. The narrower waist of an L-00 body shape provides a focused and nuanced sound, naturally giving it a leaner and tighter bass response that sits perfectly in the mix.
